Editorial Standards
How the TLT newsdesk produces original crypto news — our sourcing, synthesis, verification and the rules we hold ourselves to.
What we publish
TLT publishes two kinds of original journalism: short news briefs — our own summaries of developments reported elsewhere — and data-driven market reports written from live market data. We also run an aggregated newswire of headlines that link directly to their publishers. We summarise and link; we never republish another outlet’s full article.
How a brief is made
We continuously monitor more than a dozen reputable crypto publications. When several report the same development, we cluster that coverage together, and our newsdesk writes one original brief in our own words from the publishers’ syndication summaries, adding our own live market data. Every brief names and links its sources. Our use of AI in this process is disclosed in full on how we use AI.
Sourcing & attribution
Every brief attributes and links each source it draws on (as nofollow links that open in a new tab). Stories carried by more than one outlet are labelled “Corroborated across N sources,” with all of them listed. We build only on on-the-record, already-published reporting and public data — we do not use anonymous sources of our own.
Verification & fact-checking
We verify before we publish. Figures reported by the outlets are cross-checked against each other, and the ones that agree are shown as corroborated. Key on-chain figures — protocol TVL, stablecoin supply, Bitcoin network data — are verified live against DeFiLlama and mempool.space, independent of what any outlet reported. Market prices are checked against CoinGecko and Binance. Each brief carries the time its data was verified, a Bitcoin-block timestamp, and a SHA-256 content fingerprint so a published brief can be shown not to have been altered.
No fabrication
We never invent a number, quote, name, date, partnership or outcome. If a fact is not in our sources or our data, it does not appear. When outlets disagree on a figure, we report the range and attribute it rather than pick one. If a data feed is unavailable we fall back to the last known-good snapshot and label it with its timestamp — we never present stale data as live.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and openly. Because our briefs are continuously regenerated and timestamped, every page shows when it was last updated. To flag an error, see our corrections & feedback page.
Independence & not financial advice
What we cover and how we cover it is decided independently of any commercial relationship — see ethics, ownership & funding. TLT is for information and education only: we never give financial, investment or trading advice, and we never predict prices.
