Police recovered the hanging body of a brave freedom fighter named Abu Saeed Sardar (65 years old) from a house in Chittagong. At the same time, some emotional notes addressed to children and grandchildren were also recovered. It is believed that he committed suicide.
On Sunday evening (December 22), the body of the brave freedom fighter was recovered by breaking down the door of a rented house under the city’s Doppelmorring police station.
According to family and police sources, Abu Saeed Sardar has two sons and one daughter. He lived in that house with his son’s family.
Doublemooring Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Bayazid Mia said that after receiving a call to the emergency service “999”, the police broke down the door of one of the rooms of the three-story building and retrieved his hanging body. Many suicide notes were recovered from that room. Upon seeing them, it was initially believed that he had committed suicide.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CHMEC) for autopsy.
This police officer said that Abu Saeed Sardar was suffering greatly due to cancer. Family members said he attempted suicide again on December 13.
In the suicide letters, Abu Saeed Sardar wrote emotional letters to his family members. It mentions some of the responsibilities of the children regarding the cause of his death and some things that must be done after his death. “Despite many treatments for cancer, I could not bear the pain and decided to commit suicide,” he wrote in a letter. In the note, he apologized to everyone, including his children.
