A case of theft has been registered against Ashraful Islam alias Zabbar Parvez who was arrested from the Nawab Vaizunisa hall of students of Jahangirnagar University (JAPI). He was arrested in this case and was taken to court on Monday afternoon. The judge then ordered him to be sent to prison.

The Court of Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Dhaka issued the order. Dhaka District Police Court Inspector Akhtar Hussain confirmed the matter.

Ashraf Al-Islam was arrested last Saturday (January 18) from one of the rooms of the Faizunsa Nawab Hall. According to the case report, Ashraf Islam was moving suspiciously in front of Room No. 216 of the Nawab Faizunisa Student Hall, at around 10:30 pm on Saturday. At one point, the students chased him and arrested him, shouting: Thief, thief. Later, Rs 900 stolen by a student was recovered from Ashraful’s pocket.

Ashraful Islam claims to be a resident of Chittagong’s Doublemorning area and came there for a visit on the occasion of ‘Him Utsav’ program at Jahangirnagar University.

According to university sources, Parvez entered the hall with a student from the 52nd batch of the university’s Drama and Theater Department last Saturday, around ten o’clock in the evening. At that time he wore a fringe on his forehead and palace, and his face was covered with a veil. When some students became suspicious of her dress and walking style, the matter was reported to the supervisor. At some point, after seeing the CCTV footage, some supervisors went and found Parvez in the girl’s room. He was then arrested and handed over to Ashulia police station in the presence of the main team and the observer.

Nawab Faizunisa Hall Supervisor Nadia Sultana said that she was notified after she sensed the presence of a man in the student’s room. The accused immediately went to the student’s room and saw the young man (Pervez) sitting on the bed. The matter was then reported to the hall manager.

After the arrest, Parvez said: “We are good friends. Seven years of friendship. I came to visit the campus on the occasion of Hime Utsav. I put a tip on my forehead, cover my face and body with a sheet, and enter the hall.

“We are good friends,” the accused student said, claiming to be married. He came to visit at the Snow Festival. I brought him to the hall because I couldn’t find a place to stay the night.
