Two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by a truck in Ghazipur’s Sripur. The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon (December 21) in the Kuran Bazar area on the Munna-Kaliakoir road. The police arrested the truck and the driver.
Assistant Inspector (SI) in-charge of Mona police station in Sripur, Muhammad Quddus, confirmed the death in the minor accident.
The deceased are contractor Shafiq Islam (45), son of Gulab Hussain of Kancha village in Jinajati upazila in Sherpur, and builder Abdul Jalil (39), son of Tayyab Ali of Puthamari village in Jamalpur Sadar upazila. They were living in a rented house in Salna area of Ghazipur city.
The arrested truck driver, Saleem Mia, is the son of the deceased Aktar Hussain of Bongaon village in Jinagati upazila in Sherpur.
The in-charge of Mona police station said that Shafiqul Islam was going to inspect the construction work of a school in Fulbaria area of Kaliaker in the morning with Abdul Jalil. On the way, a truck heading from Munna to Kaliakur tried to overtake their motorcycle. At that time, when the motorcycle entered under the truck due to the rear-end collision, two people were killed instantly.
