Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Mohammed. Sajat Ali said that work on preparing a list of extortionists in Dhaka city is continuing. Within two or three days, the campaign will start following the list.
He said this at an exchange meeting that included police, students, the public and citizens in the Ramna Model Police Station area at the Engineering Diploma Institute in Kakrail in the capital on Saturday (December 21).
The DMP commissioner said that due to extortion, the prices of daily commodities are rising. This is why lower and middle class people suffer. The blackmail must stop. A list of blackmailers is being prepared. Within 2/3 days the arrest will begin after the list is taken. Don’t blackmail anyone. Blackmail will not spare anyone.
Referring to the increase in robberies in Dhaka, the DMP Commissioner said that mobile phone robberies have increased. Everyone should be careful when going out on the streets.
Regarding sidewalk hawkers, he said it was inhumane to expel all hawkers at once. However, street vendors are asked to remain on the streets in a disciplined manner. But no fees can be taken from street vendors.
The DMP Commissioner also said that motorcycles are dangerous vehicles. 2/3 person on a motorcycle is very dangerous. I will arrange the traffic system in Dhaka. Those using the road must adhere to the rules. He issued a strong warning against the movement of motorcycles on pedestrian sidewalks.
The DMP chief said motorists continue to honk their horns in traffic congestion. But what is the solution to the problem of honking in traffic? Necessary action will soon be taken against those who repeatedly honk their horn.
