Ferry movement has been stopped at Daulatdia in Rajbari and Patoria in Manikganj. The Ghat authorities took this decision to avoid accidents in the river due to fog. Ferries on this waterway have been suspended as of 1am on Saturday (January 5).
According to ghat authorities, long queues of cargo trucks, passenger buses and private cars were seen at both the ghats due to the suspension of ferry services. Even in harsh winters, drivers, helpers and vehicle occupants suffer at night.
Assistant General Manager of Daulatdia Ghat of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC). Salahuddin said that due to severe fog, the ferry service had been suspended since one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday. Once the fog clears, ferry traffic will return to normal again.
