Disagreement has escalated over the Satkhira District Committee of the Students Anti-Discrimination Movement. Eight people announced their resignation from the newly announced committee after it was rejected within 24 hours of the publication of the list of the approved committee. At the same time, demands were made for the cancellation of the newly announced committee through a press conference.
Those who resigned from the committee were the joint convener, Dr. Ikhtiyar Al-Din and Sayim Al-Rahman Sayyam, Member A.H. Rifaat, Nahid Hussain, Jalal, Muwafaq Rahman, Saqib Hassan, Mehdi Hassan.
They announced their resignation through a press conference held at Asif Chhattar at Khulna Road intersection on Saturday (January 4).
At that time, they complained and said that the committee was formed from those who had no role in the movement except those who led the first row of students in the July Revolution.
Bakhtiar Hussain, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, read the written statement at the press conference.
He drew the attention of the central leaders and demanded that the newly announced Satkhira District Committee be scrapped and a neutral committee be formed with those who took the lead in the anti-discrimination student movement.
At the press conference, Chief Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Satkhira said. Imran Hussain said that the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement Committee declared in Satkhira underestimated qualified people. We reject this committee.
He issued a warning to the Central Committee and said: “You have formed a committee to sit in Dhaka, and you should have formed a non-discrimination committee in coordination with everyone, including those who were at the leadership level in Satkhira.” We would like to reform this committee by discussing with everyone again.
Muwafiqur Rahman, organizer of the Students Anti-Discrimination Movement, said that the recently announced Satkhira Students Anti-Discrimination Movement Committee did not retain many worthy and deserving people in this committee but discrimination was made in the Anti-Discrimination Committee. This committee was given an exception who started this movement in Satkhira.
Rifaat, Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Saimur Rahman Saim, Maskura Parveen Mo and others also spoke at this time.
The press conference was also attended by Ikhtiyar al-Din and Mullah Muhammad Shahuddin. Tangdoor Rahman, Shakib Hassan, Rakib Hassan, Mominur Rahman, Tuhin Hussain Riaz, Mizanur Rahman, Anarul Islam San, Samiuzzaman Shravan, Mustafizur Rahman, Ibrahim Khalil, Mehdi Hasan, Tariq Islam etc.
Meanwhile, activists in the anti-discrimination student movement were divided shortly after the committee was announced.
Incidentally, the Satkhira District Committee was announced in a letter signed by Hasnat Abdullah, organizer of the anti-discrimination student movement, and member secretary Arif Sohail, on the night of January 2. In the committee, Arafat Hussein was appointed chairman of the meeting, and Suhail Mohadin was appointed secretary.
Shehryar is the main organizer and Mohini Parveen has been appointed as the official spokesperson.
As joint convener of the committee, Mujahid al-Islam, MD. Mizanur Rahman, Masoom Billah, Suhaili Tamanna, Mainul Islam Dibu, Abdullah Al-Mamun and eight others. Md got the responsibility as Joint Member Secretary. Nazmul Hussain, MD. Radwan Ahmed, Omar Tasneem Rahat and seven others. Md was nominated as organizer. Haseeb Al-Hassan, Aminur Rahman Ratul and Sheikh Omar Farooq including seven people. 122 members were also appointed to the committee.
