Allegations of wastage in making of Bangabandhu sculpture, ACC begins investigation

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into allegations of wasting government funds by creating unnecessary murals and sculptures of Bangabandhu. At the same time, the agency decided to file a case against some senior officials in the previous government.

He also said that it has been decided to file a case against former Chuadanga MP Sulaiman Haque Jwardar Chillon and his wife on the basis of illegal assets worth Tk 12 crore and suspicious transactions worth Tk 37 crore. A case is being prepared against former FIU chief Masood Biswas for allegedly possessing illegal assets worth around Tk 2 crore.

The ACC has filed a case against former Director General of Postal Service Chudhansh Shekhar Bhadra on charges of embezzlement of Tk 92 crore. Meanwhile, former DMP Commissioner Khandkar Ghulam Farooq has been issued a foreign trip ban due to fear of fleeing abroad.

In addition, it has been decided to file a case against six people, including Kaya Group Chairman Abdul Khaleq Pathan, on charges of embezzling Tk 500 crore in the name of the loan. The ACC has initiated a probe against journalist Muni Saha over allegations of illegal acquisition of Rs 134 crore.
