The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.5 degrees Celsius at Tulia in Panchagarh district of Rangpur district on Friday (January 3) at 6 am, the Rangpur Meteorological Office said. Followed by 9 degrees in Takurgaon, 9.5 degrees in Rajarhat in Kurigram, 9.7 degrees in Rangpur, 10.1 degrees in Saidpur in Nilphamari, 10.1 degrees in Dinajpur, 11 degrees in Dimla in Nilphamari, 10 degrees in Lalmonirhat and 10.7 degrees Celsius in Gaibandha.
According to the Meteorological Department, a moderate cold front is currently advancing. This is due to the lower difference between the minimum temperature and the maximum temperature. There is also heavy fog. The people of this area have not seen the sun for the past three days.
Rangpur Meteorological Office Assistant Mustafizur Rahman said on Friday morning that the cold current may continue throughout this week. However, the temperature may drop further. Light to moderate cold currents may continue throughout the month.
Meanwhile, public life came to a complete halt due to the continuing mild winter. The sun has not been seen for the past three days. Cold winds made the severity of winter unbearable especially in Konkan. People do not leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.
