Alleged attack on anti-discrimination activists in Khulna and 8 injured

Allegations of assault on students of the anti-discrimination student movement in Khulna. Eight students were injured. The incident occurred on Thursday at around 3pm at Zia Hall Square, Shibari Junction, Sunadanga Police Station in the city.

According to local sources, Sajidul Islam Babi, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement at Khulna Government College, and Shakib Raza, student representative at Majid Memorial Government College, held a discussion on some issues. At some point the attack occurred. Eight people were injured in this accident.

Sajidul Islam Babi, Khulna coordinator of the anti-discrimination students’ movement, said: “We were returning after the program at the social service office in Sheikhpara in the city. On our way back, we were attacked by 20-25 unidentified terrorists at Zia Hall Square in Shivbari. Eight people were injured.” They were rescued and admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Among them, the condition of the two students, who are second-year students at City College HSC, was critical. Sadiya Akhtar (18) and Government Girls College student Major Zia (18) have recovered after treatment. Others injured include Nazmul (24), a student of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Government College, who was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital. First aid is being provided to others. We want justice for those involved in the attack.

But a representative of the other side of the anti-discrimination student movement, Shakib Raza, a student at Majeed Memorial City Government College, said: “This is not an attack.” Our internal affairs. So we are trying to solve the problem ourselves. I myself was injured in that incident. The two sides clashed mainly over internal issues. The attack did not happen. No one was seriously injured.

Tawfiq al-Islam, the officer in charge of Sonadanga Police Station, said: We arrived at the place as soon as we received the news. So far, no party has filed a complaint with us.

On the other hand, students from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement protested against the assault that students were subjected to at the Shabari intersection at 7 p.m.
