For the second time in the country’s history, the container ship MV Yuan Jian Fa Zhong has arrived at Chittagong Port directly from Pakistan. This time the ship brought different products besides sugar, cane molasses, dolomite, soda ash and triple-cut dates. It is said that 86 percent of these products come from Pakistan. Among these materials, the most refined sugar and minerals are dolomite.
The container ship named “MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhong” arrived at the outer berth of Chittagong Port at around 5pm on Saturday. Earlier on December 11, the ship left the Pakistani port of Karachi with 811 TEU (20-foot equivalent) containers on board.
Earlier, this ship arrived at Chittagong Port for the first time on November 11, carrying 370 TEU via the United Arab Emirates and then Pakistan. The ship was carrying at that time various containers of soda ash, dolomite limestone, broken glass, magnesium, raw materials, textiles, paints, auto parts, onions, potatoes, dates, gypsum, scrap iron, marble blocks, copper wire, resins, drugs, whisky, vodka and wine. The ship left Chittagong port on 12 November.
At the time there was a lot of hype on social media. Again the same ship came from Karachi to Chittagong carrying more than twice the cargo. Although earlier goods were brought and transported from Pakistan to Chittagong through a third port.
The local representative of the vessel “MV Yuan Jiang Fa Zhong” Regency Lines Limited, a subsidiary of Karnaphuli Limited, has been added as the local representative of this company in Bangladesh. Dubai-based container shipping company Feeder Lines DMCC has launched the vessel MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhong on the Dubai-Karachi-Chittagong-Malaysia-Indonesia-India-Dubai route.
Anis Ud Dula, CEO of Karnavoli Limited, said that twice the number of containers arrived on the ship compared to the first time. Direct ship takes a few days less time. It saves the cost of traders.
According to freight forwarders, port users and importers, the introduction of direct container ships on the Dubai-Karachi-Chittagong route saves “fare” and “time”, two important maritime considerations. Until now, goods were imported from Pakistan to Chittagong via Sri Lanka or Singapore. Once these containers are unloaded at these ports. Once again they were handed over to ships bound for Chittagong. It will take more time. Now thanks to the drop shipping service, merchants receive the goods within 10 days.
