Tottenham tried desperately to turn around. But Liverpool’s all-round ideal overcame Tottenham’s resistance with a ruthless performance. The team at the top of the English Premier League table expanded the gap to four points by celebrating a goal in front of Tottenham fans.
Liverpool beat injury-plagued Tottenham 6-3. After two consecutive draws in the league, they came back to win with a show of strength. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz scored two goals.
Liverpool took the lead with a Diaz header after wasting several opportunities. The Colombian star headed home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross in the 23rd minute. Alexis McAllister doubled the lead 13 minutes later with another header.
James Maddison gave Tottenham hope with a curling shot four minutes before half-time to score his eighth goal of the season. But Salah extinguished it by scoring through Dominik Suboszlai.
Salah equaled Billy Liddell’s record of 228 goals for the club by scoring from close range in the 54th minute. The Egyptian striker became the team’s fourth-highest scorer seven minutes later with a goal from Soboslaj’s pass. He also became the league’s top scorer by scoring 15 goals in 16 league matches. Manchester City’s Arling Haaland ranks second with less than two goals.
18 minutes before the end of the match, Dehan Kulusevski scored for the fifth match in a row. Dominic Solanke scored in the 83rd minute to bring some excitement back into the match. However, Spurs’ hopes of turning from 5-2 were far from realistic. Diaz scored his second and sixth goal for the team, sealing a four-goal win for Liverpool.
