A notification in this regard was issued by the Cabinet Department on Sunday (December 22).

The notification also said that special prayers will be held in all mosques of Bangladesh on the same day for the salvation of the soul of the deceased. Moreover, special prayers will be organized for the repose of his soul in other religious institutions.

According to family sources, his body will be buried on Monday (December 23) at the Intellectual Cemetery in Mirpur. Last Saturday (December 21) at 12:30 pm, Hassan Arif’s third funeral was held at the General Secretariat. After the funeral and pay respects, the body was kept in Himgarh at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
Before that, Counselor Hassan Arif died in Labid Hospital in the capital after suffering a heart attack at three o’clock in the afternoon on Friday. He was 85 years old.
Hasan Arif was born in Kolkata in 1941. He completed his secondary and higher education from St. Xavier’s College Kolkata. Later he completed his graduation and LLB degree from the University of Calcutta.
During his career he worked as a lawyer in the Calcutta High Court, West Bengal, India in 1967. After that he came to Dhaka and started working in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
Hassan Arif is the former Attorney General of Bangladesh. He served as advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Lands and Religion in the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed.
He was the Attorney General of Bangladesh from October 2001 to April 2005. Apart from that, he served as legal advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh from January 2008 to January 2009.
