A fire broke out at a Bata shoe showroom in the capital’s Mirpur-6 area. Six fire service units tried for more than three hours and were able to control the fire at around 3:30 p.m. However, fire extinguishing work is still continuing.
Rafi Al-Farouq, the duty officer at the fire service headquarters, said that the fire service received a report about the fire at 11:55 pm on Sunday (January 20). Later, six units from Mirpur Fire Station, Kalyanpur Fire Station and Siddique Bazar came to control the fire.
According to the fire service, the fire was extinguished due to thick smoke. Firefighters had difficulty breathing.
The ground floor of the building contains a Bata showroom and two restaurants upstairs. However, the fire service official also said that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known.
