The low pressure evident over the Bay of Bengal has turned into a depression. The Meteorological Department has asked the ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to display warning signal No. 1.
According to the Meteorological Office, till 6 am on Saturday (December 21), maximum rainfall of 7 mm fell in Kowira in Khulna and more or less in the southern parts of the country including Bhola and Barisal.
According to the special weather forecast, the stagnant low pressure over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas is moving towards the northeast and remains in the same area. It is located 1,265 km from Chittagong Sea Port at 6 am on Saturday. In the southwest, 1220 km from the sea port of Cox’s Bazar. 1,140 kilometers from the sea port of Mongla in the southwest. South-west and 1140 km from the port of Beira. It was located in the southwest. It is possible to move towards the north and northeast.
The special bulletin also indicated that the maximum sustained wind speed reached 40 kilometers per hour at a distance of 44 kilometers from the low pressure center, rising to 50 kilometers per hour in the form of stormy winds. The ocean is rough in the area near the low pressure center.
The Meteorological Department has asked fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal and in the deep sea to move cautiously near the coast until further notice.
Meanwhile, in another message, the forecast for the next 24 hours as of 6pm on Saturday said there may be light rain in some areas of Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong districts. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain generally dry with partly cloudy skies. Across the country, night temperatures may drop slightly and daytime temperatures remain almost unchanged.
